Godspeed You! Black Emperor Tickets

The Canadian post-rock collective Godspeed You! Black Emperor is one of mysteries. There is only one press photo, the band never released a video, has no website or social media, the number of interviews may be counted on just over one hand and recently they almost removed their entire discography from the streaming services. All the more impressive that without any marketing machine they grew into one of the most influential bands within the genre, with the debut F♯A♯∞ (1997) and successors Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven (2000) and Yanqui U.X.O (2002). After a seven-year hiatus in 2003, the band came back together in 2010, and since then five brilliant studio albums have followed.

Although the music is almost entirely instrumental, that does not detract from the political and activist charge. Elongated, intense compositions serve as the soundtrack of alienation and resistance and have redefined protest music. Also on the latest album NO TITLE AS OF 13 FEBRUARY 2024 28,340 DEAD that social criticism sounds through; the title refers to the number of deaths in Gaza at the time of the recordings.

It doesn't happen often that you Godspeed You! Black Emperor live, but if it happens, make sure you're there. Expect songs that unfold like a kind of apocalypse, hypnotizing film projections and a wall of sound that is impossible to escape.
