De alternatieve Welse rockband Manic Street Preachers is opgericht in 1986. Aan het eind van de Jaren 90 stonden ze bekend als één van de belangrijkste Brit popgroepen in Groot-Brittannië. Ze hebben een beruchte reputatie opgebouwd vanwege hun combinatie van glampunk en linkste teksten over cultuur, vervreemding, verveling, en wanhoop. Ze werden bekend als kwartet, maar na de verdwijning van bandlid Richey James Edwards in 1995 gingen ze gedwongen door als trio. Hierna zijn ze overgestapt naar een kalmer imago en een bredere muziekstijl.
