Marco Mengoni is een 34-jarige singer songwriter uit Italië. Hij bereikte eerste de spotlights met zijn deelname aan de Italiaanse versie van The X Factor. Met zijn sterke songs en indrukwekkende stemgeluid kwam hij als winnaar uit de bus. Een jaar later nam hij deel aan het prestigieuze Sanremo festival. Het liedjesfestival is wereldwijd bekend en vormde de start van de carrières van o.a. Andrea Bocelli en Eros Ramazzotti. Met zijn nummer Credimi ancora wist Marco de 3de plek te behalen. In 2013 keerde hij terug op het festival en werd hij eerste met zijn song L'essenziale waarmee hij vervolgens ook deel nam aan het Eurovisie Songfestival.

Mengoni heeft zeven studio albums uitgebracht waarmee hij inmiddels 68 platina certificaties heeft behaald. Op de MTV European Music Awards wist hij de prijzen binnen te halen voor beste Italiaanse act en beste Europese act. Ook was hij de eerste Italiaanse artiest die ooit optrad op het vermaarde Billboard Film & Music conference in Los Angeles.
