About
The Australian guitar pop duo broke through in 2022 with the catchy single ‘Oysters in My Pocket’. It immediately earned them a spot on Spotify’s influential RADAR list. Since then, the band has released several EPs and a debut album, collectively racking up hundreds of millions of streams. The pair work closely together, which often allows them to release new music quickly. Royel Otis also isn’t shy about a good cover now and then: their versions of ‘Linger’ and ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ stormed the charts worldwide.
The duo, consisting of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, began making music together in 2019. Their debut EP Campus was released in 2021, followed by Bar & Grill (2022) and Sofa Kings (2023). In 2024, they released their first full-length album Pratts & Pain, which debuted at number 10 on the Australian album charts. Their style blends elements of indie pop, alternative rock, and new wave, drawing influences from artists like The Cure and Phoenix. In addition to their own work, they are active live performers in Australia, Europe, and the US, and were named one of the “25 Artists to Watch in 2024” by The Grammys.
