In June 2004, Dutch television was enriched by the improvisational comedy show De Lama’s, which quickly became a groundbreaking success. Between 2004 and 2008, millions tuned in to watch the cast—Ruben Nicolai, Jeroen van Koningsbrugge, Tijl Beckand, Ruben van der Meer, and Patrick Lodiers—create spontaneous comedy live on air. After 83 episodes, the show ended, but the group had already conquered the theater scene, performing for 65,000 fans across six cities. Over 500,000 DVDs were sold, and the show won the Gouden Televizierring and was nominated for the Golden Rose of Montreux.
From 2008 to 2017, the members pursued individual careers. However, in 2017, they reunited for four shows at the Ziggo Dome, repeating the success in 2019. In 2022, they rebranded as Tafkal, launching two sold-out theater tours and two more Ziggo Dome performances. They also transitioned to Videoland, where two seasons of Tafkal are now available.
In 2024, they celebrated their 20th anniversary with two more Ziggo Dome shows. Theater tours are already planned for 2025 and 2026.
