About
The Dutch singer and songwriter Douwe Bob was born in Amsterdam on December 12, 1992. As the son of Simon Posthuma from the design group the Fool, he started playing the piano at the age of six and picked up the guitar at age 14. His debut album, Born in a Storm, was released in 2013.
Slowing down is not for this walking collection of contradictions. Douwe Bob is too much of a daredevil, cocktail shaker, skirt chaser, bohemian, romantic, melancholic, party animal, poet, rock 'n' roller, charmer, night owl, skipper, poker player, style icon, city boy, and nature lover.. all united in one person.
On his latest album Born To Win, Born To Lose, it's all wrapped up in a wide range of rootsy Americana tunes, produced by Daniël Lohues. An album about comfort, love, friendship, loss, and death, about life itself. There is much to celebrate and enjoy, but no one can escape loss and sorrow. Accept it, let it go; that is the reassuring message of Born To Win, Born To Lose, an album that wants to be a shoulder in uncertain times.
Douwe Bob won the Best Singer-Songwriter of the Netherlands in 2012, represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016, and received an Edison three times.
