Elvis Costello is een ware alleskunner. De Brit van Ierse afkomst is een geweldig zanger, begenadigd liedjesschrijver en een allround entertainer. Zijn liveshows zijn wervelend, uitbundig met bijzonder intieme momenten, maar vooral beklijvend. Declan Patrick Aloysius MacManus, de naam die in het paspoort van Costello staat, begon zijn carrière nog als rebelse punker, maar groeide in de loop der tijd uit tot een van de beste schrijvers en performers van stevige of juist breekbare popnummers. Zo bracht hij tientallen albums uit, scoorde hij met I Want You, Oliver’s Army, (I don't want to go to) Chelsea en She flink in de hitlijsten, werkte hij samen met groten der aarde als Burt Bacharach en Paul McCartney en speelde hij diverse festivals, zoals Torhout Werchter en North Sea Jazz, plat.
