KT Tunstall stormde in 2004 de muziekwereld binnen met haar debuutalbum Eye to the Telescope, waarvan de hits Suddenly I See en Black Horse & the Cherry Tree wekenlang de (Nederlandse) hitlijsten sierden. Daarop volgde een tien jaar lange carrière waarin ze nog drie albums uitbracht: Drastic Fantastic (2007), Tiger Suit (2010) en Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon (2013). Haar nieuwe album NUT, ontstaan uit Tunstalls liefde voor West-Afrikaanse grooves, combineert naadloos verschillende stijlen met elkaar en is naar eigen zeggen anders dan alles wat ze ooit gemaakt heeft.
