Componist, singer/songwriter, actor, activist and writer Sting was born in Newcastle in the United Kingdom. In 1977 he moved to London and formed the band The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. The legendary band released 5 studio albums, earning 6 Grammy Awards and 2 Brit Awards, among others, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2003. As one of the world's most distinctive solo artists, Sting himself has received 10 Grammy Awards, 2 Brit Awards, a Golden Globe, an Emmy Award and no fewer than 3 Oscar nominations. Throughout his career, Sting has sold nearly 100 million albums of both his solo work and The Police.
